Darrell Bazzell - Director

Darrell Bazzell was appointed Vice Chancellor for
Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. He serves as the university's chief financial
officer, and is responsible for the overall supervision of administrative and
auxiliary functions. He also serves as a
senior advisor to the chancellor and provost on administrative policies and
practices. Previously, Mr. Bazzell
served with the Department of Natural Resources as DNR Secretary, Deputy
Secretary for the department, and as an administrator for the department’s
Office of Planning and Analysis. During his 25 years of service to the State of
Wisconsin, Mr. Bazzell also served as deputy administrator for the Department
of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection's Agricultural Resource
Management Division and director of that agency's Plant Industry Bureau. He was
also a policy and budget analyst for the departments of Administration and
Health and Social Services. Mr. Bazzell is an active supporter of numerous
community service and professional organizations. Currently, he serves on the boards of the
Gathering Waters Conservancy, United Way of Dane County, Urban League of
Greater Madison and the Boys & Girls Club. Mr. Bazzell is the former president of 100 Black Men of Madison and the
Wisconsin Association of Black Public Sector Employees. In his spare time, Mr. Bazzell enjoys being a
Big Brother.
